Avowed: A Unique Fantasy RPG Experience

Avowed

For the last 10 to 15 years, fantasy RPGs have ruled the gaming world, captivating players with their immersive worlds and thrilling gameplay. When Obsidian Entertainment’s highly anticipated game, Avowed, was announced, the excitement was palpable. However, the recent reveal has left some gamers uncertain about what to expect. But fret not, because while Avowed may not be the Skyrim clone everyone anticipated, it still has the potential to be an extraordinary gaming experience.

Obsidian Entertainment has always excelled at delivering unique and intimate experiences. Yes, Avowed won’t be a sprawling world like Skyrim, but that doesn’t mean it should be dismissed outright. Just take a look at The Outer Worlds, which provided a well-rounded sci-fi RPG adventure in around 30 hours. It understood the limits of its form and leveraged that to its advantage. Avowed can do the same. It doesn’t need to be a mammoth undertaking; instead, it can provide a tightly-crafted, content-rich fantasy RPG in a more concise 30-40 hours.

While exploring vast snowy mountainsides for treasure is undeniably thrilling, sometimes having a clear objective and a plethora of objectives to choose from is equally satisfying. The Outer Worlds thrived on this approach, and Avowed could do the same within its enchanting fantasy setting. Rather than wandering aimlessly for 60-80 hours, Avowed has the opportunity to deliver a consistently enjoyable experience. It may not be the Skyrim clone gamers envisioned, but that doesn’t mean it can’t carve its own path and captivate players.

At the core of Avowed’s gameplay is the first-person spellcasting showcased in its teaser trailer. This unique mechanic has the potential to make Avowed’s moment-to-moment gameplay truly unparalleled. Despite its departure from the dark fantasy aesthetic, Avowed still holds promise as a fantastic RPG experience. It may not be exactly what gamers were hoping for, but in the hands of Obsidian Entertainment, it can still be an immersive and worthwhile journey.

So mark your calendars! Avowed releases in 2024 for PC and Xbox Series X/S. Get ready for a distinctive and enthralling adventure that may just surprise you.
