Baldur's Gate 3: Cultists Sacrificed - What Now?

Escaping the Nautiloid in Baldur’s Gate 3: A High-Stakes Adventure!

Welcome aboard the Nautiloid, gamers! In Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll find yourself locked up in this bizarre vessel, desperately trying to escape. But hold on to your armrests, because the controls are nowhere near the prison deck, and you’re about to embark on a wild journey filled with unexpected encounters.

Before we dive into the details, here’s a heads-up: this article contains spoilers, surprising twists, and undisclosed information. So, role-playing enthusiasts, consider yourselves warned! If you want to experience every surprise firsthand, don’t go any further. Okay, let’s set sail!

The Strange Case of the Sacrificed Cultists

Picture this: a room filled with creepy creatures named ‘Sacrificed Cultists,’ bound to chairs. What do you do? Well, in Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll be presented with a console sporting three intriguing buttons that allow you to interact with these peculiar prisoners. But brace yourselves, my fellow adventurers, because the results can be quite… unpredictable!

Now, let’s press that shiny first button on the left. What happens, you ask? Well, not much, to be honest. You get some new information, though. Just like your player character, these sorry Sacrificed Cultists have also fallen victim to an intellect devourer parasite! Yeesh, talk about unwanted guests. These unfortunate folks have “voluntarily” (yeah, right) allowed themselves to be consumed by this mind-warping menace. Sadly, there’s no option to recruit a new intellect devourer buddy like you did earlier in the game. So, you’ll have to make a choice: leave them be or put them out of their misery. Tough call, huh?

But wait, there’s more! Let’s spin the wheel and hit that middle button! Brace yourselves, folks. It’s combat time! By awakening the Sacrificed Cultists, you’ll trigger a fairly easy fight. On the plus side, you’ll gain experience points and loot, but on the downside, you’ll have to face off against two Cultists who are still in the process of being transformed into intellect devourers. Battle of the brains, anyone?

A word to the wise: prepare yourselves for this encounter. Strategically position your party to leap into action as soon as those Cultists escape their cursed chairs. And don’t forget to give ’em a thorough looting afterward! The despicable thieves deserve to lose their ill-gotten gains.

Now, let’s shift gears and explore what the last button offers us: the one on the right. Prepare for the (button) execution! Pressing the right button, button 3, will send those poor wretches to their eternal rest. Poof, just like that! Here’s the good news: no combat required! So, if you’re playing with friends, put down that Bluetooth headset because you won’t be needing backup in this instance. However, be ready to endure the scathing remark from Lae’zel, who’ll probably call you a “Fool.” Hey, it’s all part of the adventure, right? Luckily, her attitude won’t have any lasting effect on your relationship with her. Phew!

Here’s a tip: while you can still loot the bodies after a swift execution, you won’t gain any experience points. Since the fight is a walk in the park, it might be more worthwhile to engage in combat with the Sacrificed Cultists and avoid Lae’zel’s snarky commentary. After all, who needs a backhanded compliment when you can get some valuable XP, right?

Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available in Early Access for PC players, and mark your calendars because it’ll officially release on August 3rd, 2023! The PlayStation 5 version will grace our screens on September 6th, 2023, while the Xbox Series X/S version is still in development. So, fellow gamers, prepare to embark on this incredible journey filled with brain-hungry parasites, shocking encounters, and unforgettable moments of laughter and triumph!
