But before he met his untimely end, Thorm and his zealous followers created numerous monuments to honor the enigmatic deity.
Unveiling the Hidden Monument
Deep within the heart of Reithwin lies a large statue, its secrets concealed beneath its imposing presence. Should one of your party members approach the statue and pass the elusive Perception check, the plaques adorning the monument will come to life with a mystical glow. The power to unlock the statue’s secrets lies in your hands.
Cracking the Statue Plaque Puzzle
Prepare your minds, brave adventurers, for a challenge awaits! When you interact with the plaques, fragments of an inscription will be revealed. Your task is to select each plaque in the correct order, from left to right, in order to piece together the full message.

The Trials of the Dark Lady
Within the hallowed grounds of the Sharran Sanctuary, behold three magnificent statues of Shar, each adorned with a plaque at its base. Approach these solemn figures, and a dialogue will ensue. Brace yourselves, for these statues will test your Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma, with a challenging DC of 14. Fear not, for Shadowheart or any other Cleric of Shar in your party can breeze through these tests effortlessly.
Should you succeed and pass these divine trials, the Dark Lady bestows a powerful blessing upon you. Your tested ability will receive an impressive +5 bonus, lasting until your party’s next long rest. This boon can transcend the ordinary ability cap of 20, elevating your modifier by an additional +2 or +3. However, should you falter and fail to impress, prepare yourselves for a battle against three formidable Sentinels – a level seven Wizard, Paladin, and Cleric.
The Hidden Altar and Offerings
For those who emerge triumphant and conquer all three saving throws, a secret wall will part, revealing an altar concealed from mortal sight. In this sacred moment, you can choose to interact with either the altar or the Ritual Dagger of Shar, triggering an intriguing conversation.
A character well-versed in the ways of religion or a devoted Cleric of Shar can offer their own blood upon the altar. Such a noble act gives birth to four precious items: a Scroll of Revivify, a Scroll of Blight, an Elixir of Necrotic Resistance, and a Potion of Angelic Reprieve. A treasure worthy of the devoted!
A Word of Warning – The Ritual Dagger
Ah, the allure of power! Some may be tempted to seize the coveted Ritual Dagger of Shar. But heed this warning, intrepid adventurers, for seizing the dagger unleashes the wrath of the three Sentinels once more. Is the +1 Dagger, empowered with 1d4 Necrotic damage, and valued at a mere 65 gold, truly worth the chaotic battle it invites? Choose wisely!
