The Hunt for the Githyanki Egg
To begin your journey, make your way through the Rosymorn Monastery and find the entrance to Creche Y’llek. Now, you have two options to reach the monastery: take a cable car across a jaw-dropping vista (just kick a crane to get it moving with a little Strength check), or take the good old west trail. The choice is yours!
Once you’re in the Rosymorn Monastery, descend any stairs, vines, or holes you come across. Remember, the entrance to Creche Y’llek is hidden in the basement, so keep going down until you spot a grand statue of Lathander. Head left from the statue, where you’ll find a staircase leading to what appears to be a “basement door.” But don’t be fooled! That’s actually the entrance to Creche Y’llek. Enter if you dare!
Sneaking Into the Hatchery
As you step into the creche, get ready to face a Githyanki guard. Pass the check, and you’ll earn the right to explore the grounds and embark on your Githyanki Egg quest!

Now, pay attention. From the creche entrance, head down the northwest hallway (opposite the Creche Y’llek waypoint). If you find yourself in a room called the Hatchery, turn around and take the hallway to your left. You’ll soon arrive in a room filled with acidic goodness, creating a liquid lake of sorts.
Inside this acid-filled room lies your prize: the Githyanki Egg. But beware! Acquiring this precious egg won’t be a walk in the park. You’ll have to face three guards head-on or master the art of sneaking past them. The egg sits at the far end of the hatchery, protected by a guard perched on a cliff in the middle of the room. Speaking to this watchful guard will reveal that it’s the only egg, and it’s taking FOREVER to hatch.
Pro tip: Don’t try to sweet talk the guard into giving you the egg. That’s a big no-no. If you approach the egg or step on the rock in the acid closest to it, guess where you’ll end up? Trapped in a locked cage with a bunch of angry guards. Yup, that rock is a sneaky trap meant to discourage egg-snatchers. So be smart and approach the egg from the west side, going around the outside.
Oh, and get ready for a fight! Typically, you’ll have to take down all the guards before you can lay your hands on that precious Githyanki Egg. But hey, if you’re feeling mischievous, try distracting the cliff-guard with one character while sneaking around and snatching the egg with another. Stealthy and satisfying!
Return to Lady Esther… with or without the Egg!
Congratulations! You’ve got the Githyanki Egg in your grubby gamer hands. Now it’s decision time. Head back to the Trielta Crags waypoint and find Lady Esther waiting anxiously. What will you do with the egg? Here are your options:
- Give her the egg and complete the Steal the Githyanki Egg quest like a somewhat honorable person.
- Keep the egg for yourself because, hey, it’s a Githyanki Egg, and who knows what it could be used for? Delicious omelettes, perhaps?
- Get creative and try to trick Lady Esther by producing an owlbear egg if you happen to have one handy. Deception at its finest!
