Baldur’s Gate 3: Managing Encumbrance Guide

Baldur's Gate 3: Managing Encumbrance Guide

The Great Balancing Act of Gold in Baldur’s Gate 3

Do you ever feel like you’re swimming in gold coins, like Scrooge McDuck in DuckTales? Well, in Baldur’s Gate 3, the developers have cleverly made sure you never reach that level of opulence. Gold is a precious resource in the game, and while they want you to have enough to play around with, they don’t want you to buy the best of everything for every character. So, what’s a player to do? Well, my friend, it’s time to become a gold-hungry scavenger!

But let’s face it, some of those shiny treasures can be quite hefty. With so much loot in Baldur’s Gate 3, even the strongest character will be walking around like they have lead boots after just an hour or two of play. Don’t worry, though, I’ve got some quick tips that will keep you sprinting at full speed, leaving other adventurers in the dust!

Dealing With the Weight of Wealth

Sending Supplies Directly to Camp
  • Muscles Make Great Pack Mules: When looting, make sure your characters with the highest Strength attribute do the heavy lifting. They can carry more than their scrawny companions, so take advantage of their brawn.

  • Back to Camp: When your inventory is bursting at the seams, send those items back to camp with your characters. Think of it as a mini-vacation for them, away from all that burden. Plus, it gives you more space to collect more shinies!

  • Sharing Is Caring: Don’t be greedy! If one character is loaded up like a pack mule, share the weight with others. Select the items individually and distribute them among your party members. Let them feel the thrill of carrying a heavy load!

  • Direct Delivery to Camp: Supplies, such as rations, are like precious gems, so send them directly to the Traveller’s Chest in camp. And don’t forget those bulky weapons and armor that you plan to sell later. They can also be sent to camp, saving you time and energy.

  • Cash it In: Time to cash in on your hard-earned loot! Find a vendor near a waypoint and sell all those marked wares. Gather all your characters with inventory to sell, and give them a fresh start. It’s like hitting the jackpot without all the spinning reels.

Giving an Item to a Party Member

Follow these tips, and you’ll be breezing through Baldur’s Gate 3 without a care in the world. No more “encumbered” notifications slowing you down. Just pure, unadulterated gaming bliss!
