Baldur's Gate 3: Top Adamantine Crafts at Grymforge
A Hilarious Guide to Crafting in Baldur’s Gate 3
So, you’ve made it to the Adamantine Forge in Baldur’s Gate 3. Congrats! You now have the opportunity to craft some amazing items using the six molds you’ve picked up along the way. But hold on a second, before you start hammering away, let’s take a closer look at what these items actually do. After all, we don’t want to waste the precious few resources the game provides us.
Crafting the Best of the Best at Grymforge
Let’s start with the heavy hitters, the Adamantine Splint Armor and the Adamantine Shield. These items are perfect for tank characters, and boy, do they pack a punch. The Splint Armor offers a solid 18 AC and reduces all incoming damage by 2, making you practically invincible. Plus, you become immune to critical hits! But be warned, this armor isn’t very stealthy, so don’t expect to win any sneaky contests. Oh, and here’s the best part: whenever a melee attack hits you, the attacker gets a little something we like to call the Reeling debuff for 3 turns. Ouch!
Now, let’s talk about the Adamantine Shield. This shiny piece of equipment gives you an additional +2 AC and makes you immune to critical hits as well. But wait, there’s more! When a melee attack misses you, the attacker gets the Reeling debuff for 2 turns. And as a bonus, you get to use the Shield Bash attack! Who doesn’t love a good bash?

Time to dive into the world of Reeling debuffs. Every item you craft at the Adamantine Forge has a chance to apply this debuff, which means enemies will have a tough time landing their blows. Reeling debuffs subtract -1 from all attack rolls made against you. It’s like giving them a handicap, and who doesn’t love watching their enemies struggle? So, getting back to our previous point, tank characters are the real winners here because they benefit the most from these penalties. With the Splint Armor and Shield combo, attacks against you will nearly always have this penalty, whether they land or not. So, even when you’re farming experience, you can enjoy the spectacle of enemies failing miserably at hitting you.
The “Not Quite As Amazing But Still Pretty Good” List
Now, let’s take a look at the other items you can craft at the Grymforge. While they may not be as stellar as the Splint Armor and Shield, they still have their merits. Just keep in mind that since there are only two sources of Mithral Ore in the game, you may want to consider saving your resources for something with a little more oomph.
-
Adamantine Scale Mail: This bad boy provides 16 AC and reduces incoming damage by 1. You also become immune to critical hits, and when a melee attack hits you, the attacker experiences the Reeling debuff for 2 turns. Not too shabby!
-
Adamantine Scimitar: If slashing your enemies is your thing, then this weapon is right up your alley. It deals 1d6+1 Slashing damage and has a handy +1 Enchantment. Successful attacks from this weapon apply the Reeling debuff for 1 turn. Oh, did I mention you gain the Flourish and Lacerate attacks? Slicing and dicing has never been more fashionable!
-
Adamantine Longsword: This versatile weapon can be wielded single-handedly or with two hands. Both options offer satisfying Slashing damage, with 1d8+1 for one-handed attacks and 1d10+1 for two-handed attacks. Like the Scimitar, it has a +1 Enchantment and applies the Reeling debuff to your foes. Plus, you gain some nifty attacks, like the Pommel Strike, Rush Attack, and Lacerate. Who needs a fancy shield when you can go all “sword and sorcery”?
-
Adamantine Mace: For those who prefer crushing blows over slashing ones, the Adamantine Mace is the weapon for you. It deals 1d6+1 Bludgeoning damage and has a +1 Enchantment. Like the other weapons, successful one-handed attacks apply the Reeling debuff for 1 turn. Plus, it has the super satisfying Concussive Smash attack!
