Final Fantasy 16: The Side Quests that Will Make You Sweat…in a Good Way!

Rekindling The Flame

When it comes to side quests in Final Fantasy 16, most of them are a piece of cake. You know, the usual collecting items and exterminating nameless enemies routine. But fear not, adventurers! There are a few quests that are worth your time and will really get your blood pumping. These quests come from Clive’s friends throughout the game, adding a dash of excitement to the gameplay and a sprinkle of character development.

6. Rekindling The Flame

We all know that Eastpool suffers a tragic fate in the story. After aiding Clive on his journey, the village is reduced to ruins by none other than his backstabbing mommy dearest and her imperial forces. But that doesn’t mean it’s all over! The Rosalith underground and the locals of Martha’s Rest have a plan to resurrect Eastpool as a sanctuary for Bearers. The only problem? The place is occupied.

A gang of bandits has taken over, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The village is also home to a slimy monstrosity known as “Two Scoops.” This mini-boss has an insane amount of health and an uncanny ability to shape-shift at lightning speed. Good luck trying your usual button-mashing tactics against this erratic blob. You’ll need to adapt and strategize to take it down!

5. Carved In Stone

Who would’ve thought that Final Fantasy 16 would throw in a side quest focused on… wait for it… memorization? Yes, you read that right! When Clive and his crew visit Tabor, they stumble upon an old man who’s not just yelling at kids to get off his lawn. No, he wants their help with his scholarly pursuits. His creaky old bones prevent him from climbing stairs, so he tasks our heroes with deciphering inscriptions on three ancient stones around town.

Now, this archaeological mission is nothing like your typical quests. With multiple-choice answers that all sound eerily similar, it’s a mind-boggling challenge in disguise. Who knew remembering stuff could be so tough? But hey, at least it gives your combat skills a rest… for a while.

4. Blacksmith’s Blues

Imagine being an accomplished blacksmith like Blackthorn and then losing all confidence in your craft because you stumble upon objects that showcase superior smithing skills. Sounds like a recipe for a mid-life crisis, right? But fear not, Clive is here to save the day! Well, sort of.

To help Blackthorn regain his confidence, Clive agrees to fetch the aforementioned objects. Easy peasy, right? Wrong! Two instances of this quest make life interesting. You’ll find yourself facing off against a griffin named Dozmare and a chimera-led Akashic monster mob. These battles are no walk in the park, my friends. The griffin darts around the battlefield, dealing heavy damage with its wing sweeps, while the chimera spices things up with AOE and elemental attacks. Brace yourselves for a challenge!

3. Please Sir, Can I Have Some Morbol

Ah, the joys of gardening and herbalism. Clive encounters a gardener/herbalist in his hideaway who is in desperate need of Morbol vines. The catch? The only known Morbol resides somewhere in the vast world of Final Fantasy 16. Lucky for you, it’s marked on the hunt board as “Carrot.” But don’t let the innocent name fool you. This Morbol is just as annoying and ferocious as any Malboro you’ve encountered in the series.

With a wide range of attacks and the ability to pop up right next to you from the water, Carrot is a force to be reckoned with. And let’s not forget about those vague hunt clues that leave you scratching your head. Good luck finding this spiky menace! This quest proves that merging hunts and side quests can be a double-edged sword.

2. Weird Science

In Mid’s workshop, you’ll meet Owain—someone who needs bomb ash, but not just any bomb ash. He specifically wants bombs that can only be found in the presence of a Bomb King. Time to consult the trusty hunt board again! But don’t underestimate the bombs in Final Fantasy 16. They’re pesky creatures with flaming attacks, immunity to fire, and the ability to self-destruct, dealing devastating damage. And just when you think it can’t get worse, the Bomb King can summon a horde of smaller bombs to back him up. Prepare for an explosive showdown!

1. Trading Places

Who would’ve thought a side quest picked up in Boklad, a glorified rest stop, could take such an unexpected turn? Starting with a simple task of wiping out mindless rabble from a nearby fishing village, you’d think it’s just another run-of-the-mill quest. But hold on, there’s a twist.

The questline ends with an epic showdown against a dragon. No, not your average dragon, but this one is no less intimidating. It unleashes laser beams and flames with the fury of a thousand suns, thanks to its Akashic powers. This flying menace can wipe out your party in the blink of an eye. Who in their right mind would think they stood a chance? Well, Theodore did, and now it’s your turn to face this ferocious beast.

Final Fantasy 16 is here to test your skills, keep you on your toes, and make you feel alive! So grab your sword, stock up on potions, and prepare for an unforgettable journey. Happy questing!
