Genshin Impact Guide: Hydro Traveler – The Elemental Chameleon

Hydro Traveler

You start your journey in Genshin Impact as the Traveler, the one and only free five-star character (unless you played during a limited-time event). But here’s the exciting part – the Traveler can change their element on command! With the release of Fontaine in the Version 4.0 update, the Traveler gained the power of Hydro, unlocking their Hydro edition by interacting with the Hydro Statues of the Seven.

Now, let me tell you, the Hydro Traveler might seem simple, but they can be an amazing support character, especially during the early game. And with the introduction of the Dendro element, they have become even better for reaction-based builds. So buckle up, because we’re about to dive into some epic gameplay tips!

Reaction-Based Support is the Key

Hydro is already a fantastic element for reaction-based builds with Vaporize and Freeze. But guess what? With the Bloom and Hyperbloom reactions introduced alongside Dendro, you can now dominate any battle if you play your cards right.

To make the most of this build, we have two artifact sets you can choose from. The Flower of Paradise Lost will increase your Elemental Mastery and Bloom/Hyperbloom damage by a whopping 140% after triggering these reactions four times. Keep in mind that using this set makes the Traveler lose some health while using their Skill and can result in additional damage from Bloom.

If you prefer a Vaporize or Freeze build, go for the Noblesse Oblige artifact set. It will boost the ATK of your other party members once you unleash your Elemental Burst. Just make sure to stack up on Energy Recharge to charge that Ultimate as quickly as possible. Oh, and once you unlock the Traveler’s second constellation (which is free), this build becomes even more effective by increasing the duration of your Ultimate. Now that’s what I call an elemental powerhouse!

Hydro Traveler Artifact Stat Priority

When it comes to building the Hydro Traveler, the artifacts are a bit easier to manage. Since you’ll mainly use this character as a Hydro Applicator, their personal damage doesn’t matter as much. Here’s what you need to focus on:

Artifact Type Main Stat Priority Sub Stat Priority
Flower HP Elemental Mastery > Energy Recharge > ATK Percent
Feather ATK Elemental Mastery > Energy Recharge > ATK Percent
Sands Energy Recharge Elemental Mastery > ATK Percent
Goblet Elemental Mastery Energy Recharge > ATK Percent
Circlet Elemental Mastery Energy Recharge > ATK Percent

Hydro Traveler Talent Priority

Now, here’s where the Hydro Traveler stands out. They don’t have a third passive talent that helps them in the overworld like other characters. But fear not, it doesn’t put the Traveler at a disadvantage during combat.

If you’re planning to use the Hydro Traveler in a reaction-based team, make sure to prioritize upgrading their Burst talent followed by their Skill. This will boost your damage output so you won’t be dealing measly numbers. You can safely leave their Basic Attack Talent for last since you won’t be using it much.

So there you have it – your guide to mastering the Hydro Traveler in Genshin Impact. Get ready to make a splash and harness the power of reactions like never before! And if you’re hungry for more character builds, check out our guide on the Best Builds for Lynette. Keep on gaming, my friends!
