Transformers Games: A Resurgence on the Horizon?

Hasbro wants to bring back some of its classic Transformers games, and they’re eyeing a potential partnership with PC Game Pass. The love for the franchise has only grown over the years, thanks to the blockbuster movies. Now, with Transformers: Rise of the Beasts hitting theaters, interest in the Transformers universe has skyrocketed, prompting fans to wonder if the iconic games will make a triumphant return.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts might not have taken the world by storm, but that hasn’t dampened the excitement around the franchise. Hasbro, the mastermind behind Transformers, is eager to expand the series and give fans a fresh gaming experience. It’s no secret that Transformers games have existed since the ’80s, but let’s be honest, some of those titles didn’t exactly shine as brightly as Optimus Prime’s metallic armor. However, Hasbro believes that now is the perfect time to breathe new life into its earlier games and give them a chance to shine on modern platforms.

Back in 2017, the licensing deal between Hasbro and Activision, the publisher of Transformers games, expired. As a result, gems like Transformers: Devastation and Transformers: War for Cybertron were pulled from the digital shelves. But, fear not, fellow gamers! Hasbro has expressed its eagerness to see these delisted games return, and they see Microsoft’s Game Pass as the ultimate home for them. In fact, at San Diego Comic-Con 2023, the Hasbro team declared that adding these games to Game Pass would be a piece of cake. They want nothing more than to give players a chance to immerse themselves in the world of Transformers once again.

However, there seems to be a slight hiccup. According to Hasbro, Activision isn’t quite sure where these forgotten games are stored in their vast publisher’s building. “When a company eats a company that eats a company, things get lost, and that’s very frustrating,” laments Hasbro. But hope is not lost! With Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard on the horizon, Hasbro is crossing its fingers that this partnership might change their luck. While there’s no guarantee that the delisted games will find their way back onto Game Pass, Hasbro’s enthusiasm might just be the push they need, especially considering the immense appeal of the franchise.

But wait, there’s more! The Transformers universe is already teeming with exciting titles. Tessera Studios is cooking up Transformers: EarthSpark – Expedition, while Splash Damage is working on Transformers: Reactivate. And if that’s not impressive enough, Transformers even made its way into Fortnite with an Optimus Prime skin in Chapter 4 Season 3 Battle Pass. The possibilities for the franchise are immense, and only time will tell if we’ll get a AAA Transformers game to rival the likes of Star Wars. The fact that Hasbro is actively seeking to revitalize their earlier Transformers games is a cause for celebration in the gaming community.

So, buckle up, Autobots and Decepticons! The Transformers gaming universe might just be on the verge of a remarkable resurgence.
