Path of Exile 2: Embracing the Action-Focused Adventure

Move over, Diablo 4! Path of Exile 2 is charting its own course with an “Elden Ring sort of direction,” according to the game’s director, Jonathan Rogers. In an interview with GameTopic, Rogers spills the beans on how Path of Exile 2 will differentiate itself from the MMO path taken by its rival.

Compared to Diablo 4’s cool down rotations and expansive open world, Path of Exile 2 is doubling down on an action-packed, hardcore experience. Rogers describes it as “much more action-focused, but with a sort of hardcore bent.” Brace yourself for an adrenaline-fueled ride!

While Diablo 4 Season 1 has been facing its fair share of challenges since launch, Grinding Gear, the developer behind Path of Exile 2, seems to be throwing a few punches. Rogers acknowledges the struggles faced by Diablo 4 and empathizes with the developers, saying, “I feel very bad for them, because I’m sure they mean well. It’s a hard lesson to learn.” Ouch, that’s a double whammy!

Speaking of punches…

Grinding Gear recently announced the closed beta date for Path of Exile 2, and it seems they deliberately timed it to kick Diablo 4 while it’s down. Talk about adding insult to injury! Unfortunately for Blizzard, we’ll have to wait until June 2024 to sink our teeth into the beta. Hang in there, Diablo fans!
