Redfall's developer is going back to its roots after a disastrous launch.

Welcome Back, Arkane Austin!

Arkane Austin

Forget about Redfall, because Arkane Austin is going back to its roots! The studio has its sights set on a new game, and a recent job listing for a Lead Technical Engineer gives us a juicy clue. They’re looking for someone with experience in “single player action-RPGs and immersive sims.” If that doesn’t sound like classic Arkane, we don’t know what does!

Arkane Austin is renowned for their immersive sims, having honed their skills over the years with brilliant titles like the Dishonored series and Prey. It’s no surprise considering their co-founder, Harvey Smith, comes from the legendary Looking Glass Studios that brought us the genre-defining masterpiece, Deus Ex.

After the disappointment of Redfall, this news is like a ray of sunshine for Arkane Austin’s die-hard fans. People were bummed out when Redfall turned out to be a live-service shooter. I mean, come on, that’s not what we were expecting from the masters of atmospheric and deep storytelling! But fear not, dear gamers, for Arkane is course-correcting and returning to their roots.

Thankfully, Xbox head honcho, Phil Spencer, admitted he was “disappointed” with Redfall’s reception, and pledged to make it better. Rumors even circulated that Arkane Austin developers secretly hoped Microsoft would cancel the game after the lukewarm launch. But fear not, dear fans, because an Xbox executive reassured us that Arkane Austin is here to stay, despite the rough start.

So, spread the word, my fellow gamers! Arkane Austin is getting back on track, and we couldn’t be more excited. Keep an eye out for updates on their upcoming project.
