Sam Lake loves the new Sam Lake Mod in Max Payne 3 - GameTopic

Max Payne 3 Mod Brings Writer Sam Lake’s Iconic Face Back to Life!

Do you remember Max Payne? That iconic police detective whose troubled face we all know so well? Well, here’s a fun fact: in the original game, the face of none other than the writer and director himself, Sam Lake, was used to bring Max Payne to life. Talk about getting up close and personal with your creation!

Sam Lake’s commitment to the role didn’t stop at lending his face though. He even dressed up for the original game’s cutscene! Now, imagine Lake’s surprise when he stumbled upon a mod for Max Payne 3 that flawlessly restored his face onto the legendary detective once again, complete with his “legendary facial expression.”

Lake couldn’t contain his excitement and praised modder Alexey Savvon’s impressive work. He took to Twitter and said, “Wow, this is very impressive work on Max Payne 3 mod @alexeysavvon!” And trust us, when Sam Lake is impressed, you know it’s something special.

The mod, released last week, goes above and beyond to seamlessly integrate Lake’s face into Max Payne 3. Savvon painstakingly adapted all the head textures and even made sure to include every wound Max endures throughout the story. Talk about attention to detail! But that’s not all – the mod also incorporates all 14 hairstyles from the game, specially adapted to fit Lake’s head.

According to the mod’s description, it replaces a whopping total of 98 models and 66 textures. You’ll even get to see Sam Lake shave his head in the mirror, just like Max does in the game! Yes, it’s that immersive.

And can we blame Lake for being impressed? Max Payne 3, released back in 2012, was known for its groundbreaking “bullet time” gameplay, inspired by the Matrix films. It masterfully blended intense action with a gripping narrative, proving that games don’t have to sacrifice story for spectacle.

While we eagerly await the announced remake of the first two Max Payne games, Sam Lake is keeping busy with Alan Wake 2, scheduled for release on October 17. We can’t wait to see what he brings to the table.

So, hats off to Alexey Savvon for his fantastic modding skills, bringing Sam Lake’s face back into the world of Max Payne 3. It’s yet another testament to the amazing creativity and dedication of the gaming community.

Remember, folks, sometimes even the creators themselves can’t resist tinkering with their own masterpieces.
