March of the Dead Quest Guide: Battling Ash Spawns and a Crazy General
Welcome back, Dragonborn! In The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, we know you’re busy slaying dragons and saving the world from Alduin’s fiery rampage. But guess what? There’s more to explore in the land of Skyrim than just the main questline! Get ready to embark on the March of the Dead quest, where things are about to get interesting.
Starting the Adventure
So, you’ve got the fancy Dragonborn DLC, huh? Well, lucky you! This expansion not only adds a new main questline but also unlocks the mysterious region of Solstheim. And that’s where our side quest journey begins. To trigger the March of the Dead quest, head to Raven Rock and then southeast through the gate. Keep an eye out for a poor fella getting attacked by some creepy Ash Spawns. Show those fiends who’s boss by defeating them and save the day!
Captain Veleth’s Dilemma
After dispatching those Ash Spawns, you’ll meet Captain Veleth. This brave soul is facing a big problem: the Ash Spawns are causing chaos in Solstheim. They’re more than mere nuisances – they’ve got a purpose! Captain Veleth asks for your help in finding out what that purpose might be. How can you resist? Agree to assist him, and your quest begins to unravel the mystery. Investigate those Ash Piles left behind by the defeated Spawns, and you’ll uncover a letter entitled “Declaration of War.” Intrigued? We thought so.
The Hunt for General Falx Carius
Now that you have a taste of this Ash Spawn madness, it’s time to take the fight directly to their leader, General Falx Carius. To reach him, you’ll need to travel to Fort Frostmoth. Head south, then make your way east up the nearby hill. Follow the path until you reach the fort’s entrance, conveniently located on the northern wall. Step inside and prepare to face some fierce challenges.
Unleashing Your Inner Master Lockpicker
Once inside Fort Frostmoth, your mission becomes clear: defeat General Falx Carius. But wait, there’s a pesky locked door standing between you and your target. Fear not, brave adventurer, for the key lies within reach. Head north, descend into the next room, and gaze upon a Master Locked gate. Behind it awaits a glorious Boss Chest. But how do you unlock it? Well, you’ll need to find the Fort Frostmoth Key.

Confronting General Carius – It’s Showtime!
Now, wielding the key like a proud hero, return to the door leading to General Falx Carius. Unlock it, and get ready for an epic showdown. General Carius won’t go down without a fight.
