Takakura letting you keep a dog

How To Care For Your Dog

When you first arrive on your farm, you’ll be greeted by not one, but two adorable dogs! Takakura may not be their biggest fan, but he reluctantly lets you keep one. Don’t worry about the other pup, Takakura will find it a loving home in the city.

You have the freedom to choose a name for your furry companion, and they will have their own doghouse and food bowl right beside your house. Keep your pup well-fed with mushrooms and wild plants. And here’s a pro tip: training your dog can unlock four different tricks! The more you work on their skills together, the better they’ll become.

Well-trained dogs with a strong bond can even help you herd your livestock around the farm. Plus, you can call your dog from anywhere in town, and they’ll faithfully come to your side. Isn’t that paw-some?

Romana leaving you with a cat

How Do You Get A Cat?

In the second year, the lovely Romana will pay you a visit and inform you that she’s got one too many cats to handle. Lucky for you, she’ll give you a cute little cat to call your own! Feel free to choose a name that suits their feline charm.

Your cat will reside on your farm alongside your dog. Both of them will be sharing the same food bowl, so make sure to fill it up more often. Unlike dogs, cats can’t be trained, but they still have their own unique charm. You can carry them around town, introduce them to the townsfolk, and grow your friendship by feeding them. Cats will also interact with other animals on the farm and take plenty of catnaps. So adorable!

Takakura giving you a horse

How Do You Get A Horse?

Ah, the magnificent horse! Takakura will present you with your very own horse after you’ve settled into farm life for a bit. It’s a great way to make getting around the valley a breeze. When the time comes, he’ll take you to the barn and ask you to guess the color of your new equine friend. The choice is yours, so pick a color that speaks to you!

Black Black Horse
White White Horse
Brown Brown Horse

Your horse will occupy a barn slot, living harmoniously with your other animals. Just like your livestock, you’ll need to provide Fodder to keep your horse well-fed. Don’t forget to give your majestic companion a good brushing to keep them happy and dirt-free.

How Do I Ride My Horse?

Unlike other livestock, your horse can be ridden off the farm! They’ll serve as your trusty steed, allowing you to travel faster and even jump fences in town. To ride your horse, simply walk up to it from the side and press the “Ride” button. If you can’t ride your horse, chances are it’s taking a nap. Just use the shortcut to call them, and they’ll be ready to go.
