Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical – Act Three Guide

Charon in Hades

Welcome to Act Three of Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical! Brace yourself for an emotional rollercoaster as you lead Grace and Persephone into the depths of Hades. Why are we going there, you ask? Well, Persephone believes that the Ruler of Hades can communicate with The Fates. You remember Calliope, right? The one who got attacked by The Furies. Yeah, we want to pick up where she left off. Talk about a killer plot twist!

Before we venture any further, let me remind you that this guide contains MAJOR spoilers for Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical. So, if you’re not ready for all the juicy details, turn back now!

Getting Into Hades

Immediately as Act Three begins, Grace is at her apartment, deep in conversation with either Apollo or Persephone about poor Freddie’s death back at The Reliquary. And guess what? Grace spills the beans and reveals that Calliope was attacked by The Furies. Plot twist number two, anyone?

Now, have a little chat with your partnering god about The Furies. Get all the juicy details, and then choose “If only we knew more…” Trust me, it’s the ticket to proceed. Oh, and brace yourself, because the god you didn’t side with at the Underworld will crash this little soiree too. Long story short, they all agree that Grace needs to go to Hades. Persephone, our girl with connections, informs us that the Ruler of Hades can communicate with The Fates. She wants Grace to help her take back the Throne of Hades. Talk about shaking things up!

Persephone calls upon Apollo to get us to Hades. Now, Apollo might need some convincing, but don’t worry, we’ll get there. We’re swiftly introduced to Hermes, our ticket to Hades, in a not-so-glamorous parking lot encounter. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to convince Hermes to break Athena’s rule about bringing mortals to Hades. Easy, right? Just be your charming, persuasive self, and we’re good to go!

Persephone in Hades

Cross the River Styx with Charon

Now that Hermes is on our side, it’s time to make our grand entrance into Hades. Persephone fills us in on some hauntingly interesting details about Hades himself. Surprise surprise, there’s already someone sitting on the Throne of Hades: a man named Orpheus. And guess what? Persephone wants to dethrone him. Talk about a power move!

But before we can even think about sitting on that majestic throne, we have to cross the River Styx. And who’s there to greet us but Charon, the ferryman of the dead? Now, let me share a little secret with you—honesty is the best policy when it comes to convincing Charon. Maybe sprinkle in a little charm if you have it in your bag of tricks. Just remember, be truthful, and Charon will be more than happy to escort us across the river.

The Throne Song – A Battle for Power

Orpheus on the Throne of Hades

Hold up, before we reach the Throne room in Hades, guess who’s already aware of our presence? Orpheus, that’s who! And he kicks off a song that will determine the fate of the Throne of Hades. Cue “The Throne”! Get ready to make some weighty decisions that will have lasting consequences.

During this epic song and dance, Persephone pours her heart out, mourning the state of Hades. Meanwhile, Orpheus adds a little insult to injury with his taunts. It’s up to you to decide who deserves to take the Throne of Hades. Here are your options:

  1. Persephone overthrows Orpheus and reclaims the Throne of Hades.
  2. Orpheus retains the Throne, much to Persephone’s displeasure.
  3. Grace boldly names herself the Queen of Hades and seizes the Throne.

Regardless of who sits on the Throne in the end, brace yourself for some shocking truths. The Fates, unfortunately, cannot and will not help us. And, here’s a reality check—sitting on the Throne doesn’t grant you the power to revive the departed. But wait, what’s that sound? It’s Freddie’s spirit entering the throne room. Things just got even more interesting!

Freddie and Calliope – The Plot Thickens

Freddie, Grace, Calliope, and Persephone in Hades

After a heartwarming reunion, Freddie drops a bombshell—Calliope’s spirit is here too! Brace yourself for an intense conversation about all the juicy details. But wait, don’t get ahead of yourself. Choose “Tell us what happened” to uncover the truth.

In a nutshell, Apollo spilled the beans to Athena about a prophecy he received. Athena interpreted it as saying, “The Idols cannot continue so long as the Last Muse lives.” Can you believe it? To prevent this prophecy from coming true, Athena ordered The Furies to kill Calliope. Talk about a betrayal! But little did she know, Calliope managed to pass on her Eidolon before her untimely demise. So, the Last Muse lives on through Grace. And why was Calliope trying to contact The Fates, you ask? She wanted to change the prophecy. Heroic!

The Heartbreaking Goodbye – “It’s Time”

Grace and Spirit Freddie in Hades

You’re not ready to say goodbye to Freddie just yet, are you? Well, buckle up because it’s time for one final song, aptly named “It’s Time.” As Grace and Persephone bid farewell to Freddie and Calliope, get ready for an emotional ride.

You have three options to choose from during this poignant song:

  1. Grace can refuse to let Freddie go. This choice opens up the opportunity to give Freddie the Eidolon and revive her. In exchange, Grace gives up her godhood and passes it on to Freddie. Talk about a selfless act!
  2. Grace can be emotional but composed enough to say goodbye properly. It’s tough, but after a heartfelt song, Grace and Persephone head back home.
  3. Grace can hesitate to let go, granting you more time to make the same choice between letting go or passing on the Eidolon.

Whichever option you choose, the scene ends right after the song, whisking Grace, Persephone, and potentially Freddie back to Grace’s apartment to prepare for the trial.

There you have it, folks! Act Three of Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical is heart-wrenching, funny, and full of surprises. Get ready for a trial like no other. But that’s a story for another time!
