World of Warcraft: How to Get the Reins of Valiance

Patch 10.1.5 dropped like a dragon to continue the epic saga of World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, Dragonflight. And let me tell you, the biggest highlight of this patch is the brand new mega-dungeon called Dawn of the Infinite. But wait, there’s more! Players can also join in on a public event, along with managing a whelp daycare because dragons have a soft spot for their little ones.

While the developers showcased many new features in the launch trailer, they left a few secrets just waiting for players to discover. One of those secrets is the return of the legendary Tier 3 armor sets from Naxxramas. But the secrets don’t end there. Once you’ve unraveled the mysteries of Naxxramas, you’ll have the opportunity to obtain a majestic mount known as Valiance.

Craft a Grappling Hook

Grappling Hook

Valiance can be found strutting its stuff in the stables of the Military Quarter in Naxxramas. However, before you can claim this beauty as your own, you’ll need to check off a few tasks. There are new areas to explore, but reaching them requires a magnificent grappling hook.

To start your journey for Valiance, head to the outer ring of Naxxramas where you’ll find a pool of slimy green goo. Go ahead and fish from it to reel in the sought-after Abomination’s Chain. Once you have that, venture into the Construct Quarter and search for a room filled with mysterious vats. Hang on tight because, at the bottom of one of those vats, you’ll discover a hook. Lastly, make your way to the Arachnid Quarter, summon your bravery, and defeat Grand Widow Faerlina to claim Faerlina’s Sewing Kit.

Combine these three items to create the invaluable Makeshift Grappling Hook. You don’t need a special profession to make it, just a strong sense of adventure.

Find Zackett Skullsmash

Now that you have your trusty grappling hook, a whole new world is open to you. Think of it as Aladdin’s magic carpet but without the need for a street rat. The Makeshift Grappling Hook is like a precious ability that you can use wherever your heart desires. But hold on! Before you go soaring through the skies, make sure to grab some bottles of Stratholme Holy Water from Stratholme. Trust me, it’ll come in handy.

Return to the Construct Quarter, slay the fearsome Thaddius, and clear the room. After restoring peace, head back to the entrance of the room and take a leisurely stroll up the left platform. Keep your eyes peeled for a small black object. Right-click it while wielding your Makeshift Grappling Hook, and voila! You’ll ascend to new heights. Look around for your next grappling point and swing your way across platforms like a true action hero. Just make sure to avoid any acrobatic mishaps.

Finally, you’ll reach an alcove and discover the “corpse” of a goblin named Zackett Skullsmash. But don’t worry, he’s just taking a power nap. Splash him with some Stratholme Holy Water, and you’ll find yourself in the middle of a quest offered by our sleepy goblin friend.

How to Wake Up Zackett Skullsmash

Wake Up Zackett Skullsmash

Zackett Skullsmash, the not-so-dead goblin, will awaken and present you with a quest. Brace yourself, because this quest requires some serious scavenging skills. Gather a whopping 20 Invader’s Scourgestones, five Corruptor’s Scourgestones, three Dark Runes, and one invigorating cup of Black Coffee. Looks like the path to Valiance is paved with some interesting souvenirs.

To obtain Invader’s Scourgestones, you’ll need to put your boss-slaying skills to the test in both Stratholme and Scholomance. As for Corruptor’s Scourgestones, you better bring your A-game to Naxxramas where every boss is worthy of your attention. Dark Runes, those elusive buggers, can be obtained by defeating enemies in Scholomance. And when it comes to Black Coffee, make a beeline to Kevin Browning in Shattrath City. He’s got the caffeine hookup.

Once you’ve collected all the required items, return to Zackett Skullsmash. Don’t forget to bring some extra Stratholme Holy Water because he’s prone to sleepy episodes. Turn in the items, complete the quest, and prepare for the icing on the cake. As a bonus, Zackett Skullsmash will reward you with an item that can be turned into the bracers for your very own Tier 3 Armor set (provided you have the necessary materials).

Purchase Rotten Delicious

At this point, you’ll feel like a treasure-hunting legend. But wait, there’s more to uncover! You’ll have the opportunity to acquire Death’s Bargaining Chips and use them to snag some exclusive items from the ever-charming Zackett. These Death’s Bargaining Chips can be obtained through savvy exchanges.

For instance, if you have ten Invader’s Scourgestones lying around, you can trade them for a single Death’s Bargaining Chip. And if you’re feeling particularly generous, offer up one Corruptor’s Scourgestone for another Death’s Bargaining Chip. Oh, and let’s not forget about the grand exchange: trade in 50 Invader’s Scourgestones or five Corruptor’s Scourgestones for five Death’s Bargaining Chips. It’s a deal you can’t refuse!

Zackett has an enticing selection of items, including recipes for crafting your very own Tier 3 Armor. But for those solely seeking Valiance, here’s your mission: gather a total of 30 Death’s Bargaining Chips and get your hands on the marvellously named Rotten Delicious. Trust me, it’s as delectable as it sounds.

Go to the Military Quarter

The Military Quarter

Dust off your sense of adventure and prepare for the final lap! Make sure your Naxxramas settings are on 10-man mode because Valiance can only be acquired in this format. Approach Valiance as depicted above and feed it the glorious Rotten Delicious. And hey, if you’re lucky, you might even catch a slightly different emote from Valiance when you give it a gentle nudge.

This special emote signals that you’re ready for the grand finale. It’s time to take a trip to the arena where Instructor Razuvious awaits. Find one of those shimmering crystals, take control of a Death Knight Understudy, and head on over to Valiance. As if by magic, the undead steed will mount itself at the sight of the Death Knight Understudy. It’s a match made in the afterlife.

Now, bring your new companion back to the arena, right-click on the portrait of the Death Knight Understudy to end the mind control, and let loose a fury of destruction upon Instructor Razuvious and his minion. Be warned, this epic duel may end in a single devastating blow if you’re doing this raid at level 60 or higher. Loot the fallen boss to claim your well-deserved Reins of Valiance. Now that’s what I call a triumphant ending!

Congrats on your shiny new mount! Valiance will take you on epic adventures while turning every head in Azeroth with its awe-inspiring presence.

World of Warcraft is available now on PC, so what are you waiting for? It’s time to embark on an unforgettable journey!
